Why SRSS? The M-14 which delivers a 30 cal bullet @ 147 grains and really goes through steel doors, cinder blocks, concrete walls etc. but most importantly the M-14 delivers Reliability and Accuracy in any hostile environment. The One problem the M-14 has, is it's overall length 44" inches. SRSS pronounced sirs (Short Rifle Stock System) shortens the Standard M-14 by 7 to 20 inches depending on barrel and compensator / flash hider length. The SRSS complements the M-14 rifle with simple assembly and reliability and enhances accuracy. What rifle is the SRSS available for? The SRSS was designed for the M1A and Military model
M-14. The SRSS will be available for several other rifles in 2008/09. What does the SRSS kit consist of? The SRSS stock system comes with
a new, complete stock, main beam (stock) panels = Cheek rest
and right panel, AmegaRange optics rail and all hardware, forward
pistol grip, bipod, riser, full
instructions, allen wrenches to mount scope rail which replaces the
M14 /M1A hand guard. Simple tools like an Allen wrench (included) is all
you need to install your M1A or the M-14 into the SRSS. OPTICS are not
included. |
What material is the Stock made of?
The SRSS-1421BA is cut from a 12 pound block of T-6 Billet aluminum, with a final weight of 1.4 lb. It has an integral recoil dampening system. The main beam which carries the rifle and trigger housing can be made of other materials like a synthetic polyurethane. The panels are all aluminum.
The SRSS-1421SM is identical to the SRSS-1421BA, but made of a very rugged synthetic material.
Do I need to machine any part of my rifle?
No. You will need to remove the hand guard and install the optics rail and you will need to remove the rear sight assembly, just hang on to it you may want to put it all back together or leave the SRSS together and build another M1A.
Can you describe the trigger action ? I understand that one of the weakness of bullpup stocks is their softness or lack of tactile feedback of the trigger when pulled.
Our trigger was designed to eliminate all the problems that bullpup's have. The trigger/transfer rod is submerged in the stock and to some degree floats and is carried by the rear/original trigger. The safety is just above the pistol grip for your right hand and can be turned off and on by the right thumb. Our trigger rod adds 1/2 pound to whatever your trigger pressure is on your rifle. It feels like your original two stage trigger.
What colors does the SRSS Short Stock Systems come in, and what is the finish material ?
The three colors we offer are Black, OD green Tan all are
Cerakote from NIC Industries. With a unique ceramic backbone,
CerakoteTM Firearm Coatings improve performance and
reliability over conventional finishes. This state-of-the-art coating
technology out-performs any competitive coating in both laboratory
settings and real world applications. The unique formulation used
for CerakoteTM Firearm Coatings enhances a number of physical
performance properties. Each of these properties is rigorously tested to
guarantee that CerakoteTM products remain at the forefront of
the firearm coatings market. To prove CerakoteTM is the
leading firearm coating, NIC hired an independent military testing
facility to perform a blind side by side comparison between CerakoteTM,
KG Gun-Kote (listed as competitor 1) and DuraCoat Firearm Finish (listed
as competitor 2). In every test CerakoteTM out performed both
competitors products.
Will the stock fit both a lugged and or un-lugged receiver ?
The system is designed for single lug, next year we will offer a rear lug also. The bipods that come with the kit slide on the bottom (6 o'clock) rail. The VLTOR which mount to the side (3 & 9 o'clock) are an additional fee.
